During the fall of Vietnam, her family moved from the country and lived in several camps but settled down in Texas in the end. She has gone through a lot in her childhood while living in Vietnam, and she doesn’t want the children and people living there to go through all of it again. Betty started her career as a reporter and morning anchor for the KWTX-TV in Waco, Texas. She also anchored for KTVT-TV situated in Dallas. She covered several breaking news events and popular news pieces while working for it, and one of them was the Infamous Columbia Disaster. After working there for some time, she joined CNN, where she got the responsibility to anchor their weekend morning edition. She worked with CNN for over six years and covered some of the most important and major events such as the Haiti Earthquake in 2010, Hurricane Katrina, Presidential elections of Africa, death of Pope John Paul II, etc. She was also sent to Myanmar for an undercover assigned which she completed successfully.
