The professional career of Cartwright was commenced in 1979 when he was picked at a third position by New York Knicks for the NBA draft in 1979. He was the first-ever player who made his appearance as an All-star game in its first season. He gave his potential best, and this is the only reason why he scored more than 20 points in all the games. Unfortunately, he got his foot injury after playing the 77 games, which is the reason he missed the entire season of 1984-1985.
Cartwright’s performance was capable enough to grab the attention of teams which is the reason he was then signed by the Chicago bull. Cartwright played at the center of the team for three NBA championships on the row, and every game was on their side.
