He is a former football linebacker, sports analyst, and coach who also served as the main head coach in NFL in collaboration with Pittsburgh Steelers for around 15 seasons. Bill started his coaching career by being an assistant first under the guidance of Marty Schottenheimer and the Kansas City Chiefs. For around three years, Bill served as the defensive coordinator of the latter. Cowher was mentioned in the list of head coaches of Steelers which he completed until his retirement. Career Beginnings

Cowher’s career started with NFL, where he was a linebacker in 1979, but he later signed Cleveland Browns the next year. He played for around three seasons by collaborating with the Cleveland team, which made him the main Kardiac Kids member. He played special teams in his career, and he gained prominence because he only focuses more on playing special teams. Cowher said in an interview that he was a bubble player in his career, and he worked harder to influence his entire coaching career as well. At the age of 28, Cowher started his coaching career under the guidance of Marty Schottenheimer. He was the coach of the special team of Browns in the year 1985-1986.

Personal Life

Cowher’s wide named Kaye is a professional basketball player, and she played for New York Stars of Pro Basketball League and her sister named Faye. The sisters were featured in the book entitled Mad Seasons: The Story of First Women’s Professional Basketball league. Kaye died because of complications of skin cancer at 54 age in 2010. Cowher and Kaye have three daughters named Lindsay, Meagan, and Lauren. Both Lauren and Meagan played basketball professionally at Princeton University.  

After the demise of Kaye, Cowher again married in 2014 to Veronica Stigler. The family was living happily in Raleigh House, but in 2018 they put up the house for sale in North Ridge Country Club. In 2020, the couple announced that they had been tested positive for coronavirus-19.
