William Sanford Nye is his full name, and was born in Washington D.C. on 27th November 1955. Her mother, Jacqueline Jenkins Nye, worked as a codebreaker in World War II, and her father worked on Wake Island as a contractor; his name was Edwin Darby Nye. He spent four years in a Japanese War Camp where he was kept in prison with no watch and electricity. So, he learned to know the time by seeing the shadow of the shovel. Bill went to the Lafayette School and later joined Alice Deal High School. He completed his graduation from Sidwell Friends in 1973. He also completed a graduate degree in mechanical engineering in the year 1977.

Career beginning
After completing his graduation, Bill started working for the Boeing Corporation and was at the post of a mechanical engineer. While working in that organization, he invented the hydraulic resonance suppressor, which is a huge achievement. He also applied for the Astronaut training program of NASA but was not accepted. After that, he started following his passion for comedy and started to stand up comedy. He also won a lookalike contest of Steve Martin in 1978. He was so good at imitating Steve Martin that he was asked to make his impressions at different events. It made him realize his true passion, which is to make another laugh.
He was doing quite well as an engineer at Boeing, but his true passion was something else, so he quit his job in 1956 and chose comedy as his full-time profession. Bill married Blair Tindall in 2006, but the relationship broke after the marriage license became invalid. In the year 2007, he obtained a restraining order again from Blair as she entered his house and took several items with her. She also damaged Bill’s Garden. He sued her for an amount of $57000 for causing such damage to his assets.
