Billy Ripken was a popular baseball infielder from America. He played in the top baseball league, Major League Baseball (MLB), from 1987 to 1998. He played for four different teams in his career; Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers. He was a right-handed thrower as well as a batter. Currently, he doesn’t play baseball anymore and is working as a radio host with the XM Satellite Radio and with MLB Network as a studio analyst. He is the younger brother to Cal Ripken Jr., who is also a Hall of Famer.
Early life
Billy Ripken was born William Oliver Ripken in Maryland. He took birth on December 16, 1964, and travelled all over the United States throughout his childhood. His father, Cal Ripken Sr. was a baseball coach and player for the Orioles Organisation, so they had to travel a lot. He went to the Aberdeen High School, and after that, he was picked up by the Orioles in the 11th round of the MLB draft 1982. He made history by reaching in MLB as it was the first time that two brothers were playing from the same team, and their father was managing the team. Ripken was the second baseman with the team, and after leaving the Orioles in 1992, he played for several other teams and served as a utility fielder in most of them.

Career beginning
Billy’s minor league career started in 1982 with the Rookie League Bluefield Orioles. He played 48 games with .217 and 33 hits, and 13 RBI. He spent the 1985 season with three different teams starting from the Daytona Beach Admirals, then Florida State League, and Hagerstown. He began his career in Major League baseball in 1987 with the Orioles, when he was called to fill in for Rick Burleson. He played his first match on July 11, with his father managing the team and his brother playing with him. In 1988, he was given the second base role in the team. The 1989 season was not good for Billy as he had to miss the first two weeks due to a broken hand, but he came back on April 19 but had to leave again in August due to a strained shoulder.
In the year 1989, his baseball card came out, but there was an issue as ‘FUCK FACE’ was written on the knob of that bat. All of them rushed to correct the mistake, but some cards were already sold. However, they relaunched the corrected version, which made the cards with the error collectable items. After the whole incident came out, the price of the original card with the error went up, and it became highly valuable.
