The Real Marvel Superhero
Stanley Martin Lieberis popularly known as Stan Lee. He is a comic book writer, editorial manager, distributor, and producer in the US. He rose to become Marvel Comics’ creative head for more than twenty years, driving it from a small publishing house to a multimedia organization that ruled the comics business. At Marvel, in a joint effort with others, he created many famous characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man, the X-Men, Thor, Ant-Man, the Hulk, etc. During the 1980s he diversified the Marvel business into other areas and received with mixed outcomes. After his retirement in the 90s, he largely stayed the organization’s public figure.

Stan Lee was born in New York on 28thDecember 1922. He is Jewishand has a Romanian descent. His mother was Celia, and his father wasJack Lieber. He went to the ‘DeWitt Clinton High School’situated in the Bronx. In his childhood, Lee liked writing and dreamt about composing the “Incomparable American Novel” someday. He worked for news administration, issued public statements for the ‘National Tuberculosis Center’, conveyed sandwiches for the ‘Jack May drug store’ to workplaces in the ‘Rockefeller Center’, with a trouser manufacturer as office boy, guided at the Rivoli Theater, and sold memberships to the ‘New York Herald Tribune’. At fifteen years of age, he took part in an essay competition that was held by the ‘New York Herald Tribune’. It wasnamed ‘The Biggest News of the Week Contest’.He won it for three continuous weeks.Later, the paper recommended that he should write professionally, which Lee says “likely changed my life”. He moved on from secondary school in 1939 and became involved with the ‘WPA Federal Theater Project’.

In 1939, he worked as an assistant at ‘Timely Comics’which was a Martin Goodman’s organization. By the 1960s, it became Marvel Comics. Initially, his duties were quite mundane. But he moved on from composing filler to real comics with a backup highlight. ‘Destroyer’ from the ‘Mystic Comics’, can be considered his first superhuman co-creation.
The different characters that he made during this period include Jack Frost and Father Time. The earliest superheroes made together by Jack Kirby, and Lee was the ‘Fantastic Four’. The group’s instant popularity encouraged Lee and Marvel’s artists to create a band of new heroes. Again collaborating with Kirby, Lee made the ‘Hulk’, ‘Iron Man’, ‘Thor’, the ‘X-Men’, and Marvel’s best offering, ‘Spider-Man’. Kirby and Lee assembled a few of their characters together in a group called ‘The Avengers’ and restored some from the 40s like the ‘Captain America’ and ‘Sub-Mariner’.

Stan Lee had total assets of $50 million dollars during his death in November 2018. His characters earned him more than $25 billion globally. In August 2009, The Walt Disney Company purchased Marvel for $4 billion. In 2002, Stan sued Marvel stating that his agreement qualified for a 10% profit of all benefits fromthe characters. An appointed authority at first favoured Stan yet the two parties finally conceded to a one-time $10 million settlement.

For 40+ years, Stan lived in a normal two-story home in an LA neighbourhood that later became one of the most sought-after places in the city. His neighbours were personalities like Dr Dre and Hollywood star, Leonardo DiCaprio.
