He used the same kit and practice on it till he was fifteen years old. He started taking lessons in drumming from Michael Mai when he was only five years old.

After completing high school, Barker started playing with punk rock bands, and there he met Chad Larson. Chad was the co-founder of the group Aquabats in the year 1994. As part of this group, he recorded the first record, ‘The fury of Aquabats,’ with the producer Jim Goodwin. Barker has great accuracy along with fantastic speed.
