Early Life
Dana Carvey is the son of Bud Carvey and Billie Dahl and was born in Missoula of Montana. Carvey is the fourth of five children of Billie and Bud. He is of Norwegian, Irish, German, Swedish, and English ancestry and was raised in Lutheran. He moved to San Carlos, California, along with his family members at the age of 3.
He got his first drum kit at a very young age and started going to Tierra Linda Junior High and then attended Carlmount High School in California. Dana started doing broadcast communications and acknowledged his bachelor’s degree from the State University of San Francisco. He won a stand-up comedy competition in San Francisco in 1977.

Career Beginnings
In 1981, Carvey started his career by playing a small role in Halloween II; he also did and television sitcom in which the main performers were Meg Ryan, Mickey Rooney, and Nathan Lane. Carvey earned their name when he joined the comedy show of NBC entitled Saturday Night Live. At the time of the US presidential election campaign in 1992, Carvey also performed as an independent candidate named Ross Perot.
He got into the limelight, but suddenly, he withdrew from the limelight and started focusing on his family. He said he doesn’t want his kids to feel neglected and want to give them proper time. Carvey also appeared at MTV Movie Awards in 2008 and filmed a stand-up special named Squatting Monkeys Tell No Lies. He also appeared in the original comedy show Presidential Reunion in Funny or Die.
Personal Life
Leah and Dana Carvey are both childhood sweethearts, and both got married in 1979. While being at the marriage in San Francisco at the Other Café, Carvey met Paula Zwagerman. He becomes passionately involved, and this led to a divorce between Leah and Dana in 1980. In 1981 Paula and Dana got engaged, and in 1983, the couple got married. Both Dana and Paula have two children, named Thomas and DexCarvey.
Carvey was diagnosed with a blocked coronary artery and underwent bypass surgery in 1997. The surgery was done wrong because the surgeon operated on the wrong artery. The surgeon performed the surgery on an unblocked artery, and he continued to have health issues of angina pectoris. He filed a case against the surgeon and sued around $7.5 million for the damaged and later donated that money to charity. Carvey, along with his family, lives in Marin County in California.
