Roberto Rivera discovered Williams in 1985. Rivera wanted to sign Bernie Williams, but he was not 17 years old and was only a few months away from his birthday. After he becomes 17, he becomes eligible to play with the MLB team. He was put in a training camp by Yankees in Connecticut. The Yankee officially signed him after he turned 17. He then played for various groups and won plenty of awards that make him one of the best baseball players.

In 1990, Bernie got married to Waleska. The couple happily lived in Armonk, New York. Waleska gave birth to three children of Bernie named Bernie Jr., Bianca, and Beatriz. During an interview with ESPN, Bernie announced that he got divorced. Bernie released a song titled Moving Forward that was made after Beatriz, which Bernie performed along with his brother named Hiram Williams. They recorded the song at Alpha Recording Studio in Puerto Rico.
