Early life
Bernard was born on 4th December 1956 in Brooklyn, New York. He spent most of his childhood in the streets of Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, and it was that place from where he learned the basics of basketball and increased his interest in it. He went to the Tennessee University and got selected for the same college’s New York Nets.

Career beginning
Bernard’s legendary NBA career started when the New York Nets picked him during the 1997 NBA overall draft. Two months later, he was transferred to New Jersey, which was later renamed as the New Jersey Nets. Bernard was 205 pounds and 6ft 7inches monster, which made him the perfect small forward for the team. He was an excellent scorer as he could score over almost every guard using his long arms. He averaged almost 40 points per game during the 1984-85 NBA season and played in the NBA All-star Game four times. He set a world record during his rookie season as he scored over 1900 points with an average of 24.2 points.
In1979 he joined the Utah jazz and scored 9.3 points every game. He played 19 games for the Utah Jazz. Before the 1980-81 NBA season, King was traded to the State Warriors. He played for GSW for two years with an average of 21.9 points each game. After that season, he went to the New York Knicks. In 1984, he set a new record by scoring over 50 points in two consecutive games. In the same year, he played a 60-point game against New Jersey Nets and became the Tenth NBA player ever to do that.
Personal life
Bernard was arrested for cocaine possession when he was playing for the Jazz. During the same year, one of his teammates dies in a car accident after consuming cocaine. He has faced several charges throughout his life, such as Sexual assault, forced sodomy, etc. He was even put on a lie detector test but passed all of them as he was so drunk that night that he didn’t even know what happened.
