Bill Chadwick is professionally recognized as William “Big” Jordan Chadwick. Bill became the first person or referee to serve in Hockey League. Bill completed his studies at Jamaica High School. During that time, he played for the Metropolitan Amateur Hockey league in 1935 at Madison Square Garden. While playing, he was smacked in his right eye by another player during line changing against another team. Bill was immediately hospitalized, but the doctors of Manhattan Eye Hospital failed to restore his right eye vision. He continued to play with New York Rovers at Hockey League.
