Ferguson was born in 1962 on 17th May in Stobhill Hospital of Glasgow. He is the son of Janet Ferguson and Robert Ferguson. Ferguson completed his studies at Muirfield Primary School and then joined Cumbernauld High School.At the age of 16, he left his high school and started an apprenticeship to become a technician at the local factory of Burroughs Corporation.
