Todd Howard was born in the 1970s, and he is a prominent American director, video game artist, and producer. He serves as the executive producer and director of the Bethesda Game Studios, where he has helped direct the development process of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series.  

Early Life

He is originally from Lower Macungie Township, and he was born to Priscilla and Ronald Howard. His elder brother became Disney’s director of creativity, and he oversaw the production of Bambi 2. Todd developed an interest in computer games from a young age, and he considers the RPG games Ultima 3 and Wizardry to be his biggest inspiration for his future projects. He has studied at the Emmaus High School, situated in Pennsylvania, and he graduated in 1989. He also went to William and Mary College, located in Virginia, to acquire a business major while pursuing some computer classes. Howard also later stated that the major in business was the most straightforward process for him through college.

During his holiday break, he acquired a Bethesda game named Wayne Gretzky Hockey and then visited the studios while going to his school. He did not yet finish his school graduation, so he failed to achieve an opportunity in the company. He decided to complete his graduation, and he went back to Bethesda again but was rejected because there were no open opportunities open for a person. He then started doing work for a Virginia company, which enabled him to visit Consumer Electronics Show, where he found the Bethesda stall again and requested an opportunity.

Career Beginning

Bethesda eventually decided to make him a producer in 1994, and his first development project was The Terminator: Future Shock, where he performed as the designer and producer. He also started working in The Elder Scrolls 2 and Skynet as a designer, and both ended up releasing in 1996. He was also the leader of a project in The Elder Scrolls series named Redguard, released in 1998.

Howard then found an opportunity in Morrowind from the Elder Scrolls franchise, and he also worked on the expansions that were released subsequently. The game was a significant success and acquired the Game of The Year awards several times. He also then helped create The Elder Scrolls four, Oblivion and worked as its executive producer. Bethesda then acquired the Fallout title, and Todd worked as the executive producer for Fallout 3.
